Dear TiE Colleagues:
Each year, TiE's flagship event on the east coast is TiECON East, where we gather together entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, service providers and would-be entrepreneurs and deliver a program highlighting the latest trends in the world of entrepreneurship. I urge you to sign up early for this conference this year. Due to the size of the venue, our registrations are limited to half of last year's attendance, so this conference will sell out!
When a small group of business folks of Indus origin met for tea and samosas in a California home in 1992, their goal was to create and harness a network where they could benefit from each others' experience in the brave world of entrepreneurship, and TiE was born! Today, with 12,000 members in 42 chapters around the world, we continue what has become our core mission "Fostering Entrepreneurship". This year, we remember that small group of Indus Californians and their legacy with the conference theme "Harnessing the Network".
Two of the main tracks are titled "Technology" and "Life Sciences", where we dig deep into how "Harnessing the Network" is enabling the business models of the present and the future. This year at TiECON East, we are putting the "i" back in TiE, with a track titled "Leveraging India's Growth". With the Indian economy poised to grow around ten percent a year for the rest of our working lives and beyond, the key question is, how do East Coast based entrepreneurs take advantage of this by starting businesses right here in the US? Join us at the conference to find out.
For the first time this year in TiE Boston, we are hosting the TiECON East Entrepreneurship Forum, where we will connect aspiring entrepreneurs who have serious business plans with VC firms, both in a group setting as well as one-on-one. Please visit the conference website at http://www.tieconeast.org for details, but remember, this Forum is only open to TiECON East registrants.
We are truly fortunate to have some of the biggest names in Indus business as charter members in TiE, be it Narayana Murthy in TiE Bangalore, Vinod Khosla in TiE Silicon Valley, Aditya Mittal in TiE London, or Desh Deshpande here in TiE Boston. These pillars of business, along with hundreds of other successful entrepreneurs, form the core of our organization.
We are also privileged to have among our membership some of the most successful venture capital firms and service providers in the world, not only as our sponsors but also as active participants in our core mission. As a non-profit organization that depends on our volunteers and sponsors, we are grateful that our sponsors recognize the value that TiE brings to their businesses.
Finally, I want to recognize the volunteer team , who are responsible for putting a terrific program together this year. We look forward to seeing you at TiECON East 2008, at the Westin Waltham on Thursday-Friday, May 29th and 30th.
